Stress Fracture & a Sneak Peek!

I know you're all jealous of my new peep-toe shoes.

The results are in and I do have a stress fracture.  2 weeks in this lovely shoe-boot and a few weeks after that before I can run. I think I pretty much went through all of the stages of grief in a few hour period. The good news is that after only 3 days in the shoe-boot  my foot feels better.  So I've done what I do best, I decided to make some jewelry. My family has refused to allow me to go out dressed like this:

Day after race - I look pretty tired!

So I decided to make something a little more socially acceptable than my race medal. The oval pendant has our signature runner girl and 26.2. The pendant can be customized with any distance, or even an inspirational word.

So what do you think?

Want one?!! Then check back on Tuesday for a GIVEAWAY!

Until then I will leave you with a teaser photo - look what else we've been up to!

Happy 4th & see you Tuesday!

  5. DOH! I hope your foot heals well. I'm jealous of your boot, I was just diagnosed with 2 stress fractures and my doctor put me in a GINORMOUS boot.

Glad you have something to occupy yourself while you're foot keeps you from running!

  9. LOVE the necklace! Such a bummer about your foot but it sounds like you'll be back to running soon? I hope so.

My family thinks it's inappropriate for me to wear my medal outside of the house too. I don't see what the issue is.... :)

Feel better soon! And is that a new tat on your ankle?? Sweet!

  11. I've also recently been diagnosed with a metatarsal stress fracture and prescribed the Herman Munster shoe instead of the Buzz Lightyear boot. While I no longer have no pain at or near the fracture site (the stiff sole prevents my foot from bending, and I'm not allowed to walk without it) I've been noticing some tenderness/soreness on the ball of my foot and under my toes. It's not a sharp pain, but rather a dull achy feeling that's similar to when you've walked around all day in bad, unsupportive shoes or flip-flops, so I'm wondering if it's just the stiffness of the shoe. Have you had any problems with yours?

  12. @BeckEye,
I'm sorry to hear you are injured! Mine was the same - the pain at the fracture site went away pretty quickly after I was immobilized, but oh how the rest of my foot hurt. I'm about 2 weeks out of the boot and I still have pain in random places on my foot. My chiro showed me a stretch for my foot and achilles - basically stand next to a wall - toes flexed up and bend your knee slightly in. That will stretch it all. Also, try rolling your foot on a tennis ball to massage the tendons and stretch everything out. Best of luck to you!

  13. Sorry that you had to deal with this annoying injury, too. But thanks for the response! It makes me feel a little better knowing that these random pains are somewhat normal. :)
